Students from the Rwanda Defence Force Senior Command and Staff College (RDF SCSC), Nyakinama, have commenced a five-day National Study Tour (NST). The tour is being conducted under the theme: “Assessing the Impact of Rwanda’s National Environment and Climate Change Policy on Achieving Sustainable Security and Development.”
The study tour began with a high-level policy briefing delivered by the Minister of Environment, Dr Bernadette Arakwiye, at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Kimihurura.
The students were briefed on how collaboration between different institutions, including those in the security sector, plays a major role in protecting the environment and preventing the effects of climate change, which can also threaten national security.
During this study tour, the students are expected to visit various environmental conservation projects, observe how policies are implemented, and exchange ideas with environmental experts.
This study tour reflects Rwanda’s commitment to integrating security efforts with sustainable development, by preparing soldiers who are well-informed about the global challenges facing the world today, especially climate change.
