Singer Nomina has expressed great joy after visiting Rwanda for the first time and winning a continental award during the Shining Stars Africa Awards 2026 held in Kigali.
The awards ceremony took place on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Olympic Hotel Kigali and brought together artists, entertainers and creatives from several African countries.
During the ceremony, Nomina won the Best Female Artist in Africa award, a recognition that highlights her growing reputation on the African music scene.
After receiving the award, the Botswana singer thanked Rwanda and Rwandans for the warm welcome she received during her visit.
She said it meant a lot to celebrate such a victory in Rwanda, a country she described as friendly and full of hospitality. Nomina also appreciated the organizers of the awards and everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
Nomina said the time she spent in Rwanda and the award she received will remain one of the most memorable moments of her music career.
“I found Rwanda to be a beautiful country. I will always remember the great moments I experienced here and the award I received,” she said.
Besides thanking Rwanda, Nomina also expressed her wish for Rwandans to discover and listen to her music. She encouraged music lovers in Rwanda to search for her songs, saying she believes her style and message could resonate with them.
According to her, music is a universal language that connects people from different cultures and countries, and she hopes her songs will reach the hearts of listeners in Rwanda.
Nomina is a singer, songwriter and music producer known for blending genres such as Afro-Pop, R&B, Soul and Amapiano. She was born in Plumtree and grew up in Botswana before expanding her music career internationally, including spending time working in Germany.
Throughout her career, she has built a strong reputation with songs that talk about love, everyday life and messages that connect people.
In recent years, she has also received several international awards, including Best International Artistat the RBE Music Awards further positioning her among the rising female artists in Africa.
After winning at the Shining Stars Africa Awards, Nomina said the recognition marks the beginning of a new connection between her and Rwanda.
Several artists from different African countries also received awards during the ceremony. Rwandan winners included The Ben, Clapton Kibonge, Mc Tino, Alicia and Germaine, Bruce Melodie, Bwiza, Masamba Intore na Nelly Wilson Misago among others.
