Editorial Policy
This policy describes how INTO RWANDA reports. It applies to every story we publish, on this website, in The Rwanda Brief and on social media.
Original reporting
Everything we publish is written by our journalists in our own words. We never copy sentences or phrases from other publications or from press releases. Where we draw on another outlet's reporting, we say so and link to it.
Verification
Before publishing, we check every claim, figure, date and quote against official statements, documents or named sources. If something cannot be confirmed, we say so in the story or we do not publish it.
Attribution and names
Significant claims are attributed to their source. People are named with their full title and full name on first reference, and institutions are explained for readers outside Rwanda.
Reporting and opinion
Our default is straight reporting. Analysis and opinion are labelled as such, so readers can always tell the difference.
Independence and advertising
Advertisers, sponsors and partners have no influence over our reporting. Sponsored content is labelled Sponsored by the partner's name on the story and wherever it appears on the site.
Photographs
We credit every photograph we publish and use images only with the right to do so. We do not alter news photographs in ways that change their meaning.
Corrections
When we make a mistake, we correct it promptly and say what changed. See our Corrections page.
