The Prime Minister of Rwanda, Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva, was received by the President of the Central African Republic, Faustin-Archange Touadéra, who was sworn in to continue leading the country on March 30, 2026.
Prime Minister Dr. Nsengiyumva attended the swearing-in ceremony of President Faustin-Archange Touadéra of the Central African Republic.
The Office of the Prime Minister of Rwanda stated that he was received by President Touadéra at the Presidential Palace, but the details of their discussions were not disclosed.
Faustin-Archange Touadéra was re-elected to continue leading the country in elections held in December 2025, winning 76.15% of the vote.
Rwanda and the Central African Republic maintain strong relations in various sectors, especially in security, mining, and others.
In terms of security, since 2014, Rwandan soldiers and police have been deployed in the United Nations peacekeeping mission known as MINUSCA.
Since 2020, at the request of the Central African Republic, Rwanda has deployed 1,200 special forces troops to help stop the rebels of François Bozizé who were threatening the city of Bangui.
From 2023 to 2025, the Rwanda Defence Force trained more than 2,400 soldiers to help strengthen the country’s military capacity.
Rwandan soldiers and police in the Central African Republic carry out duties including protecting civilians and their property, senior government officials including President Touadéra, UN personnel and their equipment, and infrastructure such as M’Poko International Airport, among others.
Their responsibilities also include restoring peace and security, fully securing the city of Bangui and its surroundings, and ensuring that civilian activities continue in a stable environment.
Another duty is protecting President Touadéra’s residence located in the Damara area, in the Ombella-M’Poko Prefecture.”
