Canadian rapper Drake has no planned concerts in Rwanda or anywhere on the African continent, INTO RWANDA can confirm, after a wave of social media claims circulated in recent days suggesting he was set to perform in Kigali. A direct check of drakerelated.com, the artist’s official platform for tour announcements, merchandise, and updates shows no African dates anywhere on the schedule.
The only confirmed tour dates on Drake’s official site cover the United Kingdom and continental Europe, with shows listed from Birmingham and Manchester in the UK, and venues in Amsterdam, Antwerp, Zurich, Cologne, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Milan, Paris, Berlin, and Hamburg across the continent, running from July 20 through September 23. No stop in Kigali, Lagos, Nairobi, or any other African city appears on the page.
The claims appear to have spread primarily through unverified social media posts and third-party tour speculation websites, none of which cited official promotional partners, Live Nation announcements, or statements from Drake’s management team. At least one low-authority entertainment website asserted that Drake had confirmed African tour dates in Nigeria and South Africa, while simultaneously acknowledging that no official announcement had been made, a contradiction that signals speculation presented as confirmed fact.
This matters beyond one pop culture rumor. Rwanda’s entertainment and events ecosystem has grown substantially in recent years, and false concert announcements particularly those involving global artists carry real consequences. Fans who plan travel, promoters who begin fielding inquiries, and venues that receive unsolicited booking approaches all absorb costs and confusion from hoaxes that circulate without correction.
INTO RWANDA traced this specific claim to its source before publication precisely because the pattern is not new: Rwanda has been named in fabricated tour announcements before, often originating from fan accounts or AI-generated clickbait sites with no connection to artists or their management.
Drake’s current tour, officially branded “$ome $pecial $shows 4 UK EU,” is a limited arena run focused entirely on European audiences. Tickets are available through Live Nation’s UK and European country-specific platforms, with no African or Rwandan ticketing infrastructure involved. As of the date of publication, neither Drake’s management, his label, nor any authorized Rwandan event promoter has issued any statement about concerts in the region.
